We built compliant surcharging in-house so it inherits every channel of the gateway — virtual terminal, ecommerce checkout, hosted payment pages, and supported terminals. Credit-card-only by default; banned states and debit cards are excluded automatically.
Automatic BIN lookup
The card BIN is validated in real time as the number is entered. If the card is debit, prepaid, or otherwise ineligible, the surcharge is dropped before the auth call goes out — your merchant doesn't have to interpret the rules and neither does the customer.
Flexible amount setting
Configure surcharges as a fixed amount or a percentage, capped at the network ceiling of 4.00%. Set defaults at the partner level and let merchants tune within those bounds — never above them.
Transparent disclosure for end users
The fee is itemised on every checkout page and receipt, exactly as the card networks require. Compliance isn't a separate review step; it's baked into the surface your merchants are already showing customers.
Card-present and tip-aware
Compatible with Dejavoo terminals out of the box, with native tip handling — surcharges and gratuity coexist cleanly on a single card-present sale.
